Cell Level: A cell is the fundamental unit of life, and all creatures are made up of cells.Chemical level deals with the formation of molecules of protein, water, sugar, etc. Chemical Level: The living matter of a cell is made up of molecules from chemical elements such as hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, etc.The human body can be classified in terms of levels, which are mentioned below: The organ system works systematically to perform a set of specific functions. Some of the human organs work together as a system, which is called an organ system. The internal organs like the heart, lungs, liver, etc have a certain set of tasks to perform. The human body has different internal organs, protected inside the skeleton. The skeleton, which is made from bones and cartilages, gives shape and posture to the body. The human body contains a head, neck, four limbs attached to a trunk. The contraction and relaxation of the muscles cause the movement of limbs. Tendons attach the muscles to the bones.To put it another way, the muscles connected to that bone pull it in the direction of movement. Although joints aid in bone flexibility, a bone cannot be bent or stretched until a muscle works on it.Muscles help in maintaining body posture and also circulate blood throughout the human body.Muscles also help in the movement of internal organs like the contraction of hearts, lungs, etc. Muscles are special types of tissues that support the movement of the human body.Types of Joints - Classification of Joints These stem cells produce red blood cells and store white blood cells.Ĭentral Nervous System: Overview, Parts & its Functions The bone marrow which is located inside the bones has stem cells. These bones also help in the production of blood cells. These bones support the human body, protect internal organs, and facilitate the body's movement. The axial skeleton includes the ear ossicles and the Hyoid bone in the neck.Īppendicular skeleton - The Appendicular skeleton includes the bones that aid in body movement and mobility. The axial skeleton protects the internal organs like the brain, heart, lungs, etc. Ribs, Vertebra, Sacrum, Coccyx, and Sternum are the bones of the axial skeleton. The axial skeleton is made up of 80 bones out of a total of 206 bones. The bones in the human skeleton can be classified into two types:Īxial skeleton - The Axial skeleton is made up of the trunk of the vertebra and bones of the skull. These bones are no longer useful or serve any particular purpose as evolution progresses, yet we still have them. There are some vestigial bones in the human body like the coccyx (also known as the tailbone).On average, there are around 300 bones in the body of a baby whereas an adult human body has 206 bones.Joints are of two types - Movable joints (Flexible and can move), Immovable joints (Non-flexible and can not move). The joint helps the movements of body parts such as rotation, protraction, abduction, etc. The point where two or more bones meet is called a joint.The bones and cartilages in the human body are connected by fibrous connective tissues which are called tendons and ligaments.The spinal cord, which runs down the human body, connects the brain to other body parts. The Skeleton acts as a protective case for the organs of the human body.The skeleton is the structure of bones, cartilages, and ligaments that provide shape to the body and supports body movements, walking, running, jumping, etc.Microscopic Anatomy: It is the study of microscopic structures that can not be seen with the bare eye and must be studied under a microscope.Gross Anatomy: It is the study of body structures that can be viewed without the use of a microscope.Human Anatomy can be classified into two parts : Human Anatomy is the discipline of biology that studies the human body, structure, and components of the human body.
